73S - front and rear bumper trim question

In the attached photo of two pieces of rear bumper trim, I believe the piece at the top is possibly a reproduction because of how poorly the sections of rubber are fused together, where the lower piece which I believe is original to the car is almost seamless in appearance. The front bumper trim where this seam is on either end looks more like the top photo so perhaps that was replaced in the past. Has anyone had experience in purchasing new pieces from PORSCHE and how good or poor these seams are? Thank you

The top deco is clearly aftermarket, notice how the deco strip is slightly concave compared to the original which is actually a little convex across the top of the insert. Which is also why the O.E.M. piece has a better mate to the end section, since they are the same in profile.

As a follow up, I went to install the new PORSCHE front bumper trim and found that it is about 2.5" shorter than the repro piece that was on there. It needs to measure 85" and the trim I received from Porsche is around 82.25". Could this have been a production error or were their differences in the length of this trim piece for different years and or models?

Are you using the Porsche insert with a Porsche deco piece? When I have used both Porsche insert and deco the length was fine. Never tried to mix and match original insert with repro deco. I can measure the OEM pieces I just installed.

Ed - I honestly don't know if it is a repro or PORSCHE piece, but when placing the rubber strip/insert on top of the bumper to check if the studs on the strip align with the two holes at each end of the bumper, they do not with the PORSCHE strip (too short), but do with the repro piece just fine. I would most appreciative if you could measure what you have end-to-end. The PN I am using (at least the sticker they put on the bag) is 901-505-405-51. Thank you for any insight/measurement you can provide!

Worth pointing out the repro base seal as well. As you can see in the top deco, the exposed part of the seal is about double the width of the original.

Let me ad that the correct-profile base seal is available from International Mercantile.

"I measured twice, cut three times, and it's still too short!"
