    That's certainly creative.

    Maybe I missed something but can't they find who the car is registered to from the VIN? Obviously this guy had access to the car.

    If it is a scam, good luck on reversing a wire. That just doesn't happen.

    What a mess.
    I thought there had to be more to the story...

    The lesson? Have someone you know/trust look at the car in person before wiring.

    There's a variation of this scam where the "dealer" asks for a $3-5k deposit then evaporates knowing that most people won't go through the trouble to chase a thief down for this amount.
