    Solex float bowl gasket help

    My early 911 is leaking gas around the carb float bowl. Is a gasket sealer recommended? What type?

    No sealer recommended. Sounds like the parts are warped. Recently rebuilt 2 Zenith 32NDIX carbs off a 356C. Removed anything that stuck above the seating plane and sanded smooth. I had a large, very flat piece of anodized Aluminum, got some 200/300 wet or dry sandpaper, sprayed with WD40 and sanded till they were flat. Took me over an hour for both carbs, 3 places each carb. No more leaks. Of course you have to do both sides, which means both carbs have to come off the car.
    When you bolt the tops back on, maybe a small drop of Blue Loctite, and don't use much torque. Just snug.
