    modifying a SWB

    Is it a bad/careless choice to modify,hotrod,enhance,alter a 65,66,67,68 911 these days?
To err is human; to blame it on someone else is more human...

Hi Cliff-- well I am converting a 68 Sporto to a 5 speed hot rod.But after I get my fill, (If that is possible) I plan on putting it back to stock without the Sportomatic trans. I just have to scratch that hot rod thing that captured me back in the 1967 and 68 racing days of the 911. It is for me and I do not care about originality--just like those racers did not care back in the 1960's May the SPORTS PURPOSE 911 live on. Chris

My feeling is as long as it unbolts it's fair game,,,,,,just don't do anything that requires cutting and welding. And always save what comes off.

If it's a number matching example I would not do it but if it's not matching and it's a hobby to you, why not? I am doing it w/ my two not matching cars. You can do whatever you like best and don't care about date stamps, repro part, etc.

Ferry Porsche said he liked to see his cars modified. Its only a car and its only money, its the pleasure the cars give that is most important. You have to look at the car and decide what is best for you.
