I just bought this Talbot Berlin 300 series for my 65 '912. The kardex states that my 912 was delivered with a Talbot mirror. Who can confirm to me that this is the correct mirror for my 912.Name: IMG_20201212_124643_resized_20201212_010607799 - kopie.jpg

@Gunbab, if I had a '65, I would prefer the mirror with the W.Berlin stamp in order to be correct, but it is unclear exactly when the transition in the stamps occurred -- sometime in the latter half of the sixties I believe. I have researched this a lot and never came up with a definite answer on the transition beyond "late sixties". Anyone know more about this, please chime in.

BTW, there is often talk about the "reunification of Germany" being the line of demarcation for Talbot mirror stamps, but, by all accounts, this occurred in 1990 and would be irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

Here is the W.Berlin stamped mirror:

Based on what I’ve read here, I thought “Talbot + Co” came before “Talbot & Co”

I figured you would need the earlier version for a 1965 car.

It is indeed difficult which one came first. With what stamp. But it is for a MY 66 build Nov 1965.

@GUNBAB, based on the 66 survivor/barn find, I believe you have the correct mirror for your 66.

    I would go with that.

Never saw the raised lettering on the seal before - that is a really interesting thing to see. Thank you.

The lettering on the seal is super small and hard to find unless you have the right angle and some lighting. I zoomed in with my iPhone to take photo.
