    Sign of the times

We all have to fly. It is breathtaking to me that two parents believe the personal freedom of their devil child surpasses a plane full of other paying customers.

Not exactly a shock I guess considering they let their 3 year old run the house. The kid... and the dad should have both been spanked.

As a 17-year veteran of the airline business I can say it is simply amazing what some folks consider acceptable behavior both in the airport and the actual aircraft.

An airport is just a Greyhound bus station with wings.

One of the hairiest landings I ever had was in SAN about 6-8 years ago...landed on 9 in a 757 late one evening. There was a real nasty low pressure area causing widespread badness all over SOCAL...solid moderate turbulence for the last 20 minutes of flight. Big crosswind from the south upon landing. Glad to get to hotel bar that night...

I for one am glad I have never heard a pilot come on the intercom and mumble:

"Folks, sorry for the bumpy ride but we have widespread badness at the moment. If we get through it successfully I am really looking forward to knocking back a few at the hotel bar. Thanks for flying with us."

Well Frank, what can I tell ya... we pretty much hit the hotel bar after work no matter what kind of landing it was!

    Frank like Johnny Carson said,
When they ask me about a beverage I just say "I'll have whatever the Captain's having".

The Alaska crews over nighted on Shelter Island.

    something like...
Ry09 ils 300 feet above ground level break out at decision height see just the rabbit with a 40 knot cross wind.
Ry 27 loc minimums were 700 feet so you may have got a tail wind component landing 09?
Caution wake turbulence traffic slow to roll prior to your arrival, plan minimum time on the runway welcome to San Diego.

The arrive 09 depart 27 bucking heads configuration was a delay maker too.
Happy Landings, retired now under a 10 mile right base 27.

Shelter Island 5 minutes from your gate.
