    Value question 911 1966

    Hi,

Just a quick question guys. What do you think a 911 1966 almost perfect car with all original parts is worth? It is in a nice condition and you can drive it right away, but the only bad thing is that there is a 72 engine. Everything else, as it should be in a original -66

    Any idea off the value.

    Thanks

Hagerty.com gives you one estimate of itīs value, but the way they determine values is only one way. Without proper inspection the estimates canīt be accurate. Also paint and interior colors and optional equipments affect a lot. Please post pictures to open more discussion.

Hagerty. That's where you need to go.

RM sold what appears to be a 1965-built 1966 911 for $ 297,000 in Arizona earlier this spring. It's described as matching numbers and the full Solex carburetor setup is probably worth of $ 10k alone.

Don't get your hopes up, unless you have the matching engine you won't see the prices as mentioned above. You should write Porsche and find out what the original serial number was for the car and post it here. You may find someone with it in good condition. You should buy it and then your car will be of the above value.

You not only need the correct engine but the car has to be perfect. RM only deals in perfect cars. Auctions now come in 2 flavors. We have BJ, Mecum and Russo and and Steele who deal with hobbyists. RM Auctions and Gooding deal in investment grade cars. Those are 2 totally different worlds.

The car shown in the RM link above was, by no means, a perfect car. Close, but definitely not perfect.

Oddly, a nicer 1965 Model Year 911 with a sunroof sold for just $ 253,000 at Gooding's Arizona Auction http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/196...he-911-4/#tab1 Maybe that's because it was red, but who really knows.
