    1965 Fog Light Dash Switch

    Hi all,

Just a quick question. My 65 911 has a dash switch for the fog lights, but I never thought it had ever had the lights. It's always had the covers in the bumper as far as I know . Would I be right in thinking that if it had the switch it had the lights, or were they an optional extra and the switch was in the dash regardless?

    Many thanks
    David

My understanding is that fogs were standard on all 65-66 911s, optional on 912. Then in 67 when 911S was introduced fogs, and other once standard equipment like oil press/temp gauges etc., became optional on base 911.

According to this April 1965 brochure, fog lights were standard equipment:

The September 1965 Accessories Price List (1966 Model Year) says "bei 911 ohne Mehrpreis" (no more price for 911) which should probably be interpreted as standard.

    9293 644.631.912.03 2 Nebellampen mit gelbem Reflektor (bei 911 ohne Mehrpreis)/2 fog lights DM 110.00 $27.50

When I got my car in 1997 its foglights were pretty much beyond saving. I suspect one of your previous owners decided that the covers were cheaper and easier than replacing damaged Hella 128s.
