WTB: aluminum acorn nuts for 67 engine grille

Well John A's post got me going so I am attempting to disassemble my 67 engine grille and so far found it a challenge to free up the nuts. I have discovered that applying too much heat makes the top of the nut actually explode ( they are hollow and heating the trapped air makes for expansion with no place to go but BANG). I would like to source new acorn nuts. I could swear someone was selling these a few years ago. Any help would be appreciated. By the way there over 100 individual parts to these grilles and they dont just come apart with a little wd40. John's price for restoration is already starting to look like a deal
    Thanks

Stoddard was a no go. They said they haven't had the grilles or parts for years

    Darn...
But I'm pretty sure that I have seen these somewhere recently...
Serria Madre was advertising the grilles recently.
If nowhere else, perhaps a hardware specialty store. Maybe like McMaster-Carr or Grainger?
Have to admit to guessing at this point.

Its a pretty oddball part when you take a close look, not quite a typical acorn nut. There is a specialty metric hardware shop in the SF Bay area that is worth a try. I left them a message and should here back tomorrow but I'm kind of doubtful they have a match. ( They called back, dont have them). Looks like an opportunity out there for some one to source these.

Those nuts are DIN 986. What diameter is needed?
I doubt you will find alum material, but stainless is available.
M-6 is in stock p/n 900-085-003-02 which is steel, clear zinc http://www.stoddard.com/900-085-003-02.html

Uses a 7mm socket, the profile of the Stoddard part looks pretty close but the hex section looks to be taller on the original.
