    Best "vintage" style tires for 73 911

    Michelin, Pirelli or Vredestein? Cost matters some but performance matters more.

    My two cents...go with the Pirelli CN36's. These December '14 coded tires are now available from Lucas Tire in CA. So far, I've been impressed with them.

    As an aside, I recently found a tire-test in an old Car and Driver magazine (from 1971 or so) and the CN36's won hands down against 7 or 8 contemporary competitors including Dunlop and Michelin, FWIW.

    I was happy with the pirellis but they mold the tread depth pretty shallow.S

    Whichever you choose, consider buying them from Longstone Tyre in England--much less expensive than Lucas or Coker, and shipping (free) takes only about a week.

    The tires sent to me from Longstone Tyre in England came via the post office. The postmaster in our small town said "Never had tires come that way". They are shipped 2 strapped together.
