    SWB wiper cap color question

It is my understanding that wiper arms for 1965-67 Porsche 911s were originally silver-colored and parked on the right hand (i.e., passenger in USA) side. And that later models had black-colored wiper arms parked on the left hand side. Indeed, the January 29, 2010 version of the PET shows different part numbers for some of the 1965-1967 components, such as the wiper arms, wiper blade holders, and cap nut, than for the later models.

But what about the "cap" (Part No. 901 628 926 00, i.e., item #17 on illustration 994-00)? The PET shows only one part number, but I have learned that the 2010 version of the PET is not always accurate.

I have seen a mix of photos appear to show either silver or black caps on 1965-1967 cars. The first photo appears to show silver caps.

The black caps on our 1967 911 normal are shown in the second and third photos.

Question #1: Any opinions as to which color caps are period correct for the 1965-1967 cars?

Question #2: If the silver caps are correct, any suggestions on where to find them? (Already searched a few of the online suppliers for silver caps without success, but definitely not exhaustive.)

Frankly, I probably shouldn't care, but they stare at me every time I drive the car ...

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what I see in your top photo, but the bottom two look a lot like my 911. I'm pretty confident that my wiper mechanism's original.

The leading suppliers of used parts are probably:

James Breazeale EASY European Auto Salvage Yard and

    Adam Wright Unobtanium, Inc.

If anybody has rare, unique parts it's one of them.

Here's a pic taken back in 1970 of my '67 911 when it was at the Otto Glockler dealer in Germany. Those black caps still stand out despite the granular pic...

Thanks everyone for the help. Guess I am reading too much into the first photo. Now I can drive without distraction. Speaking of which, it's time for a ride ...
