    FS: 901/0 100274 transmission

    SOLD

I pulled this transmission out of the 912 I purchased recently. It is a 901/0 serial # 100274 with date stamp 38/64. Seems like a pretty early serial # and belongs in a 911. The car didnt run when I purchased it so I dont know anything about the internal condition.

The case was made in week 38, the transmission was not used till mid January of 1965.

    Noted quote...

"Closest date I have is 100728, 18 March 1965 production, which is for car No. 300688."

    This box is much earlier...

Richards reply is spot on. It's from a mid January 1965 car. We know there were 232 cars made thru the end of December 1964 and this transmission is about 42 numbers beyond the start of the year 1965.

Cars were being produced at about 5/6 cars per day in early January - 20 to 24 per week..... An estimate as to when this transmission was installed into a car is during the second week of January 1965 into a car in the range of 300 260 to 300 270 (but with cars being made "out of sequence" lets say in 'about" that range to be on the safe side).

    Cool find.
