Questions before sale, 4 1/2" Fuchs Wheels

We have a set of five 4 1/2" Fuchs wheels. 4 have been bead blasted, 1 has the original finish. Only 1 has any significant flaws, it has some curb rash on about 20% of the edge of the rim. Not major or very deep. Good mounting flats and lug holes. They are excellent restoration candidates. Before I list them I was wondering what would be a fair price as is, restored, and what a ballpark number may be to restore them. Thanks in advance for any input, but please confine your responses to the questions asked. Once I figure out how to proceed, they will be offered for sale. At that time I will post more and better pictures. Name: fuches1.jpg

As is, the price seems to be about $1200 (that's what I sold my last single for). Refinishing is around $200 per wheel and probably adds $200 per wheel in value. You may get somewhat more for a set of 5, as it potentially completes somebody's $100K+ restoration...

Be aware that if material has to be added to fill 'deep curb rash,' that wheel cannot be anodized properly - the repair will show. your alternative is to turn the outer lip to the scrape depth and designate that wheel as the spare. IMO: the 4-1/2s have very thick outer lips, so there's no real safety issue created at 1 - 1.5mm material removal.

Thanks EG, I'm in the same boat, just picked up a 912 that came with a set of 5 4.5's on it, trying to decide if it's worth it to sell them as well.

One more wild card in the mix: although the net cost of refinishing/value boost is a zero-sum game, the market is nervous about a 'top,' so there likely would be a premium if they were already refinished. This is because there's a wait for any refinishing service. The most popular one is about a year's wait - but there are a couple others as quick as 6 weeks.
