    Shipping goods to Germany

    Dear all,

Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to ship goods from LA California to Germany?

I just bought two steel rims via ebay. The seller didn't offer shipping but I convinced him to do.

The cheapest shipping rate to Germany is 410$ with FEDEX!

I saw seller in ebay they ship two rims with USPS for arround 100$. Where does the huge price difference come from?

Can anybody advice me what to do?

    Many thanks.........Oliver

    Hi Oliver,

Just check the USPS website, pretty easy to navigate and if you know the approx. weight and dimensions it will give you an accurate quote. You might check if it is useful to split the shipment, could be cheaper. It is no rocket science as a lot of people tend to believe but it seems that some folks having problems just to get to the post office. If you sell on eBay than shipping comes with it, otherwise don't sell. Good luck.

They should ship DHL. It will leave Germany and come to our shores via DHL, then go through US customs, and then be delivered to your door via the USPS. And it can be tracked the whole way. (DHL easily; the USPS complete PITA but doable).

What you could consider is take a vacation to LA and bring the rims w/ you on your way back. If you already have a suitcase and you don't fly first or business, you are probably looking at $60 for an additional checked in luggage piece. You save $350 on shipping and another 19% as long as the total purchase price of the rims is less than $500.
