    FS: 5-Speed Transaxle 901/02 Complete 901.301.101.0R from 1968 S

    5-speed 901/02 transaxle for sale; price is $1295; date stamp is 34/67; serial no. is 4280317; part no. on side is 901.301.101.0R; 6-bolt Lobro flanges; complete w/ throwout bearing, etc.; transaxle was purchased with a parts car package around 15 years ago, but I never tested it or installed in a car; I stored the transaxle indoors the entire time; internal condition unknown, but oil looks clean.

    The transaxle is located in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia/Maryland area (zip code 20912). Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping. If buyer elects to ship transaxle, I will transport it within a reasonable distance to the buyer's shipping agent. Transaxle weight is approximately 120 pounds. Feel free to e-mail with any questions. I will post more photos (and can send more via e-mail, too).

    That is actually a 901/02 transmission, a 5-speed from a 1968 911S.
    You can barely make out the last digit of the code, but the serial number confirms what it is.

    PS- While you were off-line, the moderator edited your title to read 901/02, although at the moment the title still says 1967...

    Thanks for the input. If the date code is 34/67, why would it be considered a '68 transaxle? Maybe because it went in a '68 model year? Just wondering.

    The date code only indicates when the housing was cast, not when the transmission was built.
    Porsche went to a seven-digit serial number for transmissions in the '68 model year.
    The first three digits of the number indicated the application, type and model year.

    4280317

    4 = 6-cyl engine, 160 HP (911S)
    2 = 5-speed
    8 = 1968 model year
    0317 = sequential number

    Your transmission will work in any 65-68 911 or 912 with Löbro axles, but it is specifically a '68 911S transmission.
