I seem to recall this car changed hands a few years ago for around $130k. Anyone else remember that?

$137,500...That will prove to be a magnificent investment for this guy....a quick google search produced this:

In 2008, a year after the sale of the Lusso at Christie's, the McQueen Porsche Turbo found itself in a Gooding & Company auction at Monterey. It was one of the last cars added to the catalog and not much was being made of the McQueen connection. Still mourning the sale of his McQueen Lusso, Mike Regalia went along to see the Porsche.

Since a pair of McQueen's sunglasses had recently sold for $70,000, Regalia didn't expect his budget would stretch far enough to purchase the car, which the auction house estimated to be worth between $125,000 and $175,000. But as the bidding began to stall just past the $100,000 mark, Regalia's hand went up. He bought the car for $137,500.

Its a shame there's no documentation, original correspondence or anything validating the ownership connection; photos, letters, factory info, family info etc.

That's what makes it interesting; otherwise it's just another early Turbo with a famous ex-owner......

One of the car shows, probably Chasing Classic Cars, covered McQueen's Ferrari 275 GTB that sold a couple years ago at the RM Monterey auction. The RM guy said the McQueen provenance resulted in a price 3x (maybe 4x, can't remember) over a regular version. The car sold for $10M or so, which was about 3X standard. I believe McQueen's S went for $1M, which at the time was maybe 4-5X standard at the time?

Interesting stuff. In addition to a photo-copy of my original request, the bulk of the response consists of three sheets of what appears to be screen-dump-type print-outs . . . albeit nicely/officially stamped in blue as ‘certified documents’ --- 4 pages total, all crisply-folded, neatly packaged . . .
CA registration extracts are available for $5

Steve McQueen sold the Turbo in the late 1970s to Floyd Mutrix a screen writer. Jack Kimoto put the larger flares on the car for Floyd. After Floyd sold the car I have no idea where it went after that.

Since the original post, Mecum has added a lot more marketing 'messaging' to their web page including this video.
