    Help: 1968 911S Distributor

Hi I am hoping someone can tell me what type of distributor would have been fitted to my 11/67 Built 911S, I can't find any specific information on Google. Thanks in advance Toby

Well Bosch is the type, and it has a very fast advance curve. What exactly did you want to know?

My distributor is an after market unit, I want to bring it to original and don't know if I need a cast iron or alloy unit. Should it be a 0 231 159 007 or something earlier?

    It's a cast iron #J FDR6 with yellow I.D. tag on it.

    Black or yellow tag??

    Hello experts!
So, what you are you saying is that the 68S´s also got the yellow tag distributors?? I thought ´68 was black.
    Always happy to learn!

    Thanks, Radmund

Both the manual and spec book show that number, I'm not aware of any other distributor.

I was only wondering about the color of the tag, not the number.

I have rebuilt many of these, and still do.
To my knowledge, the original 002's for both '67 and '68 had yellow plates.

Here are two more I'm in the process of rebuilding.
These distributors all had date codes stamped into the housings, although often they are difficult to read.
Of these two, one is stamped 708 (August 67), the other is either ?08 or 80?, I cannot make out one digit.
A distributor manufactured in August '67, at Bosch, was most likely used on a 1968 model engine.

All the period Porsche publications, the Workshop Manual and Technical Specifications booklet, list the Bosch 0231159002 "with yellow label".
