    Are you sure this is for Porsche 901 trans? I don't push down on my shifter going into reverse.

    Ok, lets make this clear, yes you could have used this on your '65 912 but it was not the correct knob "DN" means you have to push down to engage reverse gear. Here is a 4 speed knob with the same "DN" which kills your theory about shifting down for 1st gear or "dog leg". It is a nice vintage knob but not correct for an early Porsche.
