Are all 65-73 door roll-up glass windows sized the same?

Are all 65-73 door roll-up glass windows sized the same?

I have a 73 that I have installed an earlier frame so as to get the venting 1/4 window. The frame is installed but now the big roll-up window seems to be too short (front to back). We put in new rubber (from Porsche).

So I am wondering if the window glass came in different sizes.

Experts any help here would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Clarke

I can't tell for sure from your pictures but it appears that you used 66 or 67 window frames. Those are made of brass and take a different window channel felt/rubber than a 68 or later frame. That is probably most of your problem. 68 window frames with vents are made of aluminum and take the same felts as your 73. Buy window channel rubber for a 66 car and you should be OK. You did add a few pounds to your car in the process, if that matters.

According to Porsche PET, SWB windows are larger than LWB.
Found some glass from older SWB and it is longer. Problem solved.

Weight not a concern for this street cruiser. Going to add some more weight with a 3.2L this summer.

With the race cars I have enough weight issues.

Saving my energy for the weight game when I build a 911R from one of my 68's.

Be sure to put the proper seals in the frames. There is some variance in size of the glasses but they are all somewhat the same and interchangeable. The track at the bottom of the window is positioned differently, though and will not work with your "LWB" window regulators. I'll bet your "problem" isn't solved just yet.

The track on the bottom of that window is neither a "SWB" or a "LWB" it is a track for a later replacement "scissors" type window regulator.

Correct, I have later scissor types in my doors. That don't work well!
