NEED HELP, PLEASE!!! Did SWB bumpers have rock-guard?

    Friends,

DO SWB BUMPERS HAVE ROCK GUARD ON THEM???

My '68 SWT is being restored (as most of you know). The paint is in the final stages, but the shop insists that the front and rear bumpers have rock guard about halfway up.

I've restored and straightened about 10 rear bumps and a few front bumpers, for re-sale. None of those bumpers arrived in my hands with any rock-guard on them. Also, I cannot recall seeing any SWB cars with rock guard on the bumpers. When I asked some of my close friends who are enthusiasts, they also question whether SWB bumpers had rock guard.

So, I need to ask the entire EArly 911S Registry community for input -- does anyone think that rock guard is correct on SWB bumpers?

    Thank you.

Any chance the rust was so prolific it just LOOKED like Stoneguard?

Did stone guard start with LWB, or later? I believe my 69 did not have, and my 70 did. Not sure that's the original in either case.

to answer 'sithot,' there is no chance it was rust. the bumper has been completely restored and the shop says 'stone guard.' (since i was the one who stripped the bumpers (as well as the rest of the car) to bare metal, there was no stone guard previous to stripping, either.)
