What tires would you put on a '68 SWT?

Just casting about for member input on which tires would be recommended for a restored '68 911 SWT? I'm asking for information on size and manufacturer.

Obviously, money is a consideration, but so is the "look," and I'll try to strike a balance.

I have Firestone 560s on my '59 356A Cab and they have held up well. I noted several 911s at the 2015 Porsche Parade which were sporting Vredensteins.

    What do you folks think?

    Thanks for your input.

The Vredesteins are nice and not too pricey.

Vredesteins are well balanced, price friendly and period looking... Hard to beat...

not sure where you live but the Vreds are not the best in rain - based on my experience - they were the 185/70/15 for a 70MY - with 5.5 you may go down to 165's

You can drive a softy in the rain???? I never tried it - heard since I was a boy that the car would dissolve into a pile of ochre colored flakes long before you can build up any speed.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Never had any problems in the rain, but probably due to the non equaled handeling of a 912....

Hey - I have '68 911 SWT - slate gray with red. The best colors - and you're right; the 912 handles better.
