Thread: URGENT! Help needed in Holland

Same here. Long standing member of Dutch Porscheforum so if I can be of any help let me know. Do you happen to have his telephone number? If so: why not just call him?

Obviously there is the possibility that this is all just an attempt to shake me down for cash, but I like to believe that miracles are possible and this isn't too good to be true ... Stacy.

Ben M. sent me this in one of his emails ... I hope I didn't miss something obvious in my excitement:
I'm not too crazy about the stamping on the case. Not an expert at all! ......cliff

Not sure what you're seeing that I'm not, Cliff. It looks like a decent stamp to me ... only thing that gives me a little pause is the "7". Otherwise it just looks like Helmut had a liquid lunch that day.

I want to say thank you to all who've responded to the thread with offers to help track this guy. He has not replied to my last email so at this point I'm hoping boots on the ground in Holland are able to find this Ben M. guy. I prefer to hold on to the idea that this may eventually materialize...

Rule one of negotiation is ask the other person what they want. Maybe go back to step one and ask him what he wants?

I did exactly that right after I posted this AM.

    Good morning, Ben.

I am still very interested in acquiring this engine case from you.

Perhaps an outright purchase would be easier and more to your liking?

    Please, name your price…

Mail bounced back to me ... dead email.

I suppose it was a hoax.

I believe you are right about it being a scam. I think he photo shopped the case number in that photo he sent you.

Marco, wouldn't be difficult at all to photoshop that number based on the many picturs of stampings out there on the web. He had your number well in advance, could easily be a scam regardless of a picture. Someone local to verify the case exists is the only way to be sure. His responses to your emails are strange.

Can you post some of the headers from the e-mails that shows the originating IP address? You might find the IP coming from Nigeria or somewhere in Eastern Europe.
