    Oil Pressure Sender Help

I'm getting some wild gyrations on my oil pressure gauge. Buz at Seattle Speedometer suggested I replace the sending unit before I get crazy and send him the gauge.

My problem is there are so many sending units for sale. Prices are all over the place. This is a 1973.5 engine. What, and from who, would you suggest I purchase?

Here are 2 options, both URO. Pelican is slightly cheaper.

    Typically uro means urine.

    In this case it's crap.

901-741-551-01 was original part number, superceded to 901-741-551-02.
    911 606 111 02 is for 74 on.

    I believe his photo shows a 911 606 111 02.

Richard, if it is in fact the 901 part you need I have them available in VDO.

    I probably need the 901 part. It's a 1973.5 with CIS.

I have no clue if mine is the original sending unit. I just know it's been in there for the past 30 years. It can't hurt to go back to the original unit. Right?

I don't know what sender is in the photo, but I know what my 1973.5 uses.
If Frank has a VDO then great, if not the URO will work.
Make sure your electrical connections are good. Power is supplied to the gage by the Bk/Rd wire on the back. It is then connected to the sending unit with the Grn/Rd wire.
The sending unit works the gage by varying the resitance to ground. A poor ground strap, or connection in the 14 pin connectors could also cause problems.
