Tarett camber plates + Koni adj. dampers - How to keep the piston from turning?

    Hi

I'm in the process of rebuilding my front suspension with Boge struts, Koni adjustable dampers, and Tarett monoball camber plates. How do you keep the damper piston from turning when tightening the large nut? When using the stock rubber mounts the top plate/washer has a "tooth" that locks in to the groove of the piston, keeping it in place. Other dampers either use a hex key or smaller spanner to hold it in place.

What to do? Is there a tool that can assist holding it in place?

    Cheers!

    Johan

Yes. The "special" tool is called an impact gun.

If I recall correctly, running into the same problem some time ago, I started the nut (with all the washers, rubber bushings etc in place) then raised the the car just little, enough to put tension on the top of the shock rod. The tension kept the shock shaft from turning. It worked!

you can grab the outside of the keyed washer with some soft jaw pliers and then tighten as normal.
