Updated info. Have anyone been in contact with Gooding and got a copy of the kardex??

    PROVENANCE
Bernhard Blank, Zürich, Switzerland (acquired new in April 1967)
Michael Taradash, Riverside, Connecticut (acquired circa 1984)
John Roe and Family, New York, New York (acquired from the above in 1986)
Current Owner (acquired from the above)

    THIS CAR
The Porsche 911 is an undisputed motoring icon and one of the most successful sports cars of all time. While any 911 is inherently desirable, the earliest examples have become increasingly sought after due to their purity of line, lively performance, and vintage character. Of the early short-wheelbase 911 models, the most desirable is the high-performance S variant, introduced for the 1967 model year. With 160 hp, Fuchs alloy wheels, ventilated disc brakes, and improved suspension, the original 911 S was one of the most capable sports cars of its era.

According to a copy of the original Porsche Kardex, this 911 S – chassis 307975S – was completed in April 1967. Destined for delivery in Switzerland, this car was equipped with a long list of rare factory options, including a sunroof, rear window wiper, tinted glass, heated rear window, fog lamps, Blaupunkt Köln radio, passenger headrest, and Dunlop SP Tires. Generously equipped and finished in the attractive color scheme of Hellelfenbein (Light Ivory) with black vinyl upholstery, the new 911 S was sold through VW/Porsche Salzburg to Bernhard Blank of Zürich, Switzerland.

Well known among marque aficionados, Herr Blank was one of Porsche’s earliest patrons. In 1947, he loaned Rupprecht von Senger 50,000 Swiss francs to place orders with Ferdinand Porsche for the company’s first completed automobiles. In 1948, Herr Blank encouraged Porsche to hire Swiss coachbuilders Ernst and Fritz Beutler to develop their cabriolet model. Later that year, Herr Blank became the official Swiss distributor for Porsche and, in March 1949, he presented a Gmünd coupe and a Beutler cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Salon.

Evidently, this 911 remained in Europe until the mid-1980s, when it was sold to Michael Taradash of Riverside, Connecticut. As noted in documents in the car’s file, Porsche AG performed a mechanical overhaul and cosmetic restoration on the 911 between 1984 and 1986, refinishing the car in Irish Green with tan leather upholstery.

In August 1986, the Porsche was shipped from Germany to the US, and in December, Mr. Taradash sold the car to John Roe of New York City. When Mr. Roe purchased a new car in 1989, the Porsche was garaged in the Hamptons and retired from road use in the early 1990s. It has not run since.

Recently discovered after two decades of static storage, the Porsche is presented today as a remarkable garage find. Offered with its tool roll, jack, owner’s manual, and service books, the 911 is further accompanied by an impressive file of documentation.

This first-year 911 S, with its matching-numbers engine, fascinating connection to Bernhard Blank, and desirable factory options, is an exciting project that is sure to attract interest from Porsche enthusiasts the world over.

    307575s

    Post-auction . . .

'. . . 1967 Porsche 911S Coupe; S/N 307975S; Engine # 961639; Irish Green/Brown leather; Estimate $250,000 – $325,000; Visually maintained, largely original, 3- condition; Hammered Sold at $172,500 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $189,750. No Reserve. 1991/180hp, 5-speed, Fuchs wheels, Uniroyal tires, gold badges, power sunroof, rear wiper, heated rear window, passenger’s side headrest, VDO dash clock, Blaupunkt cassette stereo. – One family owned since 1986. Missing rear view mirror. Dirty brightwork and molding/rub strips. Dull paint. Several big scratches but overall the paint is complete. Grubby, pitted frame and engine bay but no major rust. Tired but complete and rip free interior. A low mileage first year S with some dust left on. Looks like a barn find, but was apparently overhauled and repainted in the mid-1980s. – To the casual eye, this looked like a freshly discovered 911 S that’s fresh out of four decades in a barn somewhere. Its history, however, reveals that its only been stored for two decades, and not carefully, after a restoration. The Monterey bidders were astute to bring this car to a price appropriate for its condition since it doesn’t have originality as an excuse for its debilitated state . . .'

Chassis 307975S was completed in April of 1967, equipped with an electric sunroof, rear window wiper, tinted glass, heated rear window, fog lamps, Blaupunkt Köln radio, passenger headrest, and Dunlop SP Tires. Wearing Hellelfenbein (Light Ivory) over black vinyl upholstery, this highly optioned 911S was sold through VW/Porsche Salzburg to Bernhard Blank of Zürich, Switzerland. Well known in enthusiast circles, Bernhard Blank was one of Porsche's earliest patrons. In 1947, he loaned Rupprecht von Senger 50,000 Swiss francs to place orders with Ferdinand Porsche for the company's first completed automobiles. In 1948, Blank encouraged Porsche to hire Swiss coachbuilders Ernst and Fritz Beutler to develop their cabriolet model. Later that year, Blank became the official Swiss distributor for Porsche and, in March 1949, he presented a Gmünd coupe and a Beutler cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Salon.

The car would remain in Europe until the mid-1980s, when it was sold to Michael Taradash of Riverside, Connecticut, who commissioned the factory Porsche AG to perform a complete restoration of the 911 between 1984 and 1986, refinishing the car in Irish Green with tan leather interior that has an amazing patina. Mail correspondence between Taradash and the Porsche Repair Department discuss the vehicle on Porsche letterhead, followed by several pages of invoices for the work performed. Mr. Taradash then took delivery of the car at the factory, before a driving tour of the local region. Astonishingly, the entire paper trail from insurance coverage, travel to shipping and importation accompanies the 911, including the German tourist plates still mounted on the bumper. In August 1986, the Porsche was shipped from Germany to the US, and in late December, Mr. Taradash sold the car to John Roe of New York City. The 911 was used a weekend runabout to the Hamptons until 1989 when the Roe's purchased a new car and the Porsche was garaged in the Hamptons and retired from road use in the early 1990s.

Recently uncovered after two decades of static storage, a meticulous detailing of the car has revealed beautifully mellowed cosmetics applied by Porsche to pair well to freshened original mechanical components and powertrain. A freshly completed major service included the removal, disassembly, rebuild and reseal of the numbers-matching engine. It has received all new bearings, seals, gaskets, studs, nuts, springs, tensioners, guides, resurfacing and honing of the heads and cylinders, new oils lines and rubbers, rebuilding of the intake, charging and ignition systems, cosmetic renewal of the finishes, new oil tank, new exhaust system, a new clutch, flywheel and bearings. The entire braking system was also addressed with a complete rebuild of the S' exceedingly rare calipers, new discs and lines. Emergency brake and shifter linkage components renewed as well. Proper Michelin XZX tires were then mated to the car's 67S-only lightweight Fuchs to complete the package.
A Rare SWB 911 That Checks All the Boxes and Comes With Great Pedigree!

Offered with its original tool roll, jack, all owner's manuals and service books, the 911 is further accompanied by an impressive file of documentation. This first-year 911 S, with its matching-numbers engine, fascinating connections to Porsche and desirable factory options, is an exciting discovery for the discerning Porsche enthusiast do not miss a great opportunity!

WTF? A lot of money for an apparently poorly maintained early S.
