    2015, Gathering of Friends, SLO

Took off for San Luis Obispo, this past Sunday, to attend The Gathering of Friends IX Concours de Elegance

Haven't gone to many car shows this year. Kinda busy. Kinda far away --- from everything. And kinda broke. Not planning on going to any of the Monterey stuff --- Werks, the auctions, Pebble, etc. Even Rennsport's a bit of a stretch. . .

    But this Little Show? --- ~2.5 hrs N of Simi Valley = perfect day-trip . . .

. . . and a perfect opportunity to run the car --- yer basic Two-fer

    Early start = ~4:30 after tanking-up

    Sunday AM transit. Light law-enforcement + ditto traffic = 170 mi/275 km/2 hrs give-or-take

    More 2015, GoF . . .

Looked like some cars were already parked-up on the display grounds --- organizers', I figured? . . . because things were still getting set-up when I got there. Registration was usually done by mail, but . . . I wasn't sure I was going --- 'till I was, so . . . I paid (by check) @the venue. Took a coupla minutes

    V easy/friendly/low-key = My Kinda Show

    2nd in line

    Vintage Camper --- w/ vintage camping stuff . . .

This is Brian's VW crew-cab. The front bumper is actually a replika, as there were only a few sets of these bumpers made originally, sometime in the '50s. Company was called Hurst-Campbell, back then --- also Hurst ANCO . . . + they made all kindsa nerf bars for VWs + such . . . before the guy got all-kindsa-distracted by shifters+etc

Brian also brought along some vintage camping equip't his Father-in-law collected over the years --- including a stove, folding picnic table, lamps . . . a two-man saw (!) And for atmosphere --- a welded-up steershead the F-i-L made in his HS shop class (!) . . . to hang over whatever

    More O319 . . .

Interior outfitted w/ two little hammers --- over the two upper/outer-corners of the windshield. Look like they're made for breaking glass?
