Refinish plastic MFI air filter housing

My ABS plastic air filter housing is looking a bit shabby and scratched. I'd like to polish it instead of painting it. I was thinking of using one of those headlight polishing kits, but that plastic is so much harder, I'm concerned the softer ABS may not react the same. has anyone attempted this?

    Rob,

I haven't tried taking out scratches... however repeated applications of 303 Protectant really seems to bring the thing back to it's original blackness.....

Noting that it has a textured plastic surface, you might try "cleaning" a small area of scratches with very fine grit sandpaper...keep us posted on your results...

The ABS will just scratch more with any abrasive. "Boba" used this stuff with success:

"David, both the door handles and the sound pad were treated with "Forever Black". What makes this product better than most of the back to black type products is it does not contain petroleum base and it does have actual black pigments. You can find it on Amazon."
