Who to go to for MFI rebuild and caliberation?

    Hello Gentlemen,

Five years ago, I bought a '70 2.2E that had been running with weber carbs. I think it's high time I revert back to MFI. All my MFI parts came in a box when I bought the car. It looks like the MFI system will need to be rebuilt. Who would be the best person to send the MFI pump for proper rebuilding and caliberation? Any leads would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Jay

    Jay:

I was in the same exact situation two years ago...my 1969 911S was running Zenith carbs but I had the complete original MFI in a box. I sent the throttle bodies to Matt at Eurometrix...he does exquisite work. I sent the MFI pump to Mark Jung at MFI Werks in Oregon who turned it around in about three months. The MFI pump came back looking and working like new and my 911S now runs like it should...much stronger than with carbs.

Since this thread is mostly concluded, can someone explain to me why MFI is so revered? I had an early 911 long ago on carbs, the throttle response was great. I then had a CIS 73.5 and it was torquey, easy to start, smooth and totally trouble free. Now I've got an MFI car and for the past 2 years I've been chasing parts and rebuilt pieces, it's in top notch condition and I don't see how it's superior... The throttle response is OK but not as immediate as carbs (better than CIS), it's definitely not as trouble-free as my CIS was... Gas mileage is nothing to write home about... Still have one flat spot to chase down... One difference I noticed is sound, the car sounds great but it probably has 10x more to do with my new SSI + exhaust than the fuel injection system. Sorry, not a troll post, but when I see someone asking $6000 for a mint MFI pump, when I know what I paid to get mine refurb'ed and for new throttle bodies and.... I wonder why this system is so revered... I should point out all those were Ts, so maybe I would know better if I ever onwed an S.... Let me know what I'm missing ;-)

Instantaneous throttle response!! Very trouble free, I haven't touched mine in several years. The above only apply if the pump and throttle bodies have been expertly rebuilt and setup well on an engine in top condition. Ignition must be spot on with good compression.
If it has not been done right, its a pain in the a**.
When I got my car a succession of dealer mechanics screwed it up. Ran too rich, flat spots, missing. Once I found the right shop 30 years ago, its been very sweet.

MFI is so revered because it is a diesel tractor part

If you don't know, then your MFI isn't right.

    Sorry.
