Pedro Rodriguez - did he own and or drive a 914/6 or GT

I've been doing a bit of research ( ineffectively) on Pedro Rodriguez or any of the brothers, been involved in either racing and or owning a 914/6 or GT. I cannot find any reference, though I have been talking to someone who is adamant the Rodriguez brothers did?

    Anyone have info?

    Cheers michel

His street car was a Bentley, but he did own several 911's and Ferraris which he resold in Mexico.

    According to Wikipedia"

Pedro Rodríguez was considered the best driver of his era in the wet,[26][27] and after many years racing for Ferrari in the World Championship of Makes for sports cars, he signed for JW-Gulf-Porsche in 1970. He became two-time[28] world champion driver in the fearsome Porsche 917 together with his co-driver Leo Kinnunen (the sportscars series was run by teams in shifts).[29][30] He developed into one of the sport's great all-rounders, racing CanAm, NASCAR, rallies and even becoming North American Ice Racing champion in 1970, invited by the Alaska Sports Car Club from Anchorage, the race was in Sand Lake. In his NASCAR career, Rodríguez earned two top tens, including a 5th in the 1965 World 600.[31]Along with Jo Siffert, he was considered the bravest driver in motorsport, an example of this being the two touching through the then-very narrow and very dangerous Eau Rouge corner in the rain in their 917s at the start of the 1970 1000km of Spa-Francorchamps.

Rodríguez was killed in an Interserie sports car race at Norisring in Nuremberg, Germany, on 11 July 1971. While he was driving for the lead, a slower car driven by Kurt Hild edged him into the wall and his prototype burst into flames. The Mexican died shortly after he was extracted from the wreck.[25] Rodríguez was at the wheel of a Ferrari 512M of Herbert Müller Racing, his friend and teammate at the Targa Florio in 1971".

There were two recce cars at the 1970 Targa Florio: 0705 (914/39) and 0709 (914/40). The car in the photo of Rodriguez driving with the factory license plate S-U 3909 is reported by Stazak to be 0709. The other recce car wore factory license plate S-U 3908 and is reported to be 0705. That car was pulled from a garage in Saratoga California by a couple of friends of mine (with my help) back in 2010 and was shown at Rennsport Reunion IV without the correct engine. The owner recently located a correct twin-plug motor with all the correct 914-6 GT tin in Germany and will be finishing the restoration soon. I don't know where 0709 is now.

I asked Vic Elford about what it was like to drive the 914-6 GT on the Piccolo Madonie -- he said that he hated it, and only completed one lap before swapping for a 911 recce car. I suspect that the nature of the Targa being more like a rally stage than flowing like a circuit favored the superior traction of the 911's rear-engine layout.
