    Rolling Sculpture at Pebble Beach

Opinions are like belly-buttons and arse-holes -- everybody has one. One of my most closely held opinions is that cars are at their best occupied and in motion. Paperweights shouldn't drip oil. Here are a few snap-shots from today's Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance. As is my preference, I avoided the crowds at the Ocean Avenue lunch stop for the more civilized surroundings of the Finish Line...

P.S. Yes, the disc-braked Sepia '64 356C will be on the Pebble Beach Show Field on Sunday -- in the Preservation Class. A beacon of hope to all...

That Michael May 550 Spyder is cool- not only does the wing provide downforce, it also provides shade!

That's a really bitchin car. I had the pleasure of working on that car during the 98 Historics. It's nice to see it made it back to Monterey once again...

If you look closely, they're smiling -- I had just asked them, "Will the real Michael May please stand up?" Yeah, good luck with that!

Was the '64 C all original? It was up against the Maserati.

My friend recently took over stewardship of his dad's tourist-delivery 356C, so I was interested in what the heck this little brown car was doing with all the sparkling Isotta-Fraschinis, Delahayes, and Ferraris. According to the owner, the car is all-original. The class results aren't posted yet; he was up against some pretty stiff competition, but was very evidently ecstatic to be there.
