I have an oil tank question

Can anyone tell me what size liter engine the attached pictures of this oil tank may fit into? Will it work for a 3.0 liter Porsche engine? Thank you very much!Name: IMG_2510.JPG

The first problem will be matching up the fittings on the tank to those of the engine. The tank has a threaded fitting for the hose from the oil cooler, the 3.0 uses a slip on hose end.

That is a 69-71 tank, it has the straight side. SWB had a curved front edge. As Ed stated, the The 3.0l tanks used a slip fitting, versus the threaded fitting on the earlier tank. It is a gravity feed through the oil coolr to the oil pump, so it is not under any pressure. The filler neck with vent tube is also on the opposite side, so that connection would need the proper hose to connect to the 3.0l .

You don't mention what year car has the 3.0l. If it is the '69T in your signature, if you don't have one, you will need to add a cooler in the front fender.
If you are adding a cooler and thermostat, it can be tricky to mate everything up.

Thank you very much everyone. Since the tank shown has different hose fittings and the cavity it fits into is different for an SC oil tank, I will need to now cut into the cavity wall in order for fitment of the SC tank, that is if I'm guessing correctly. In addition to the adding of oil cooler plus thermostat, & etc.

Yes my car is the '69T and I do not have the engine yet and will be in the market for an '80-83 SC engine within 90 days, so if anyone has or knows of a good one just let me know. Thanks again.

You can use the 69 tank you currently have and get the appropriate oil and vent hoses. As chiroracer stated, Chuck at Elephant Racing can also help you with the setup.
I installed an '86 3.2 engine in my 1973.5 and installed an SC oil lines, cooler, and thermostat while keeping the original oil tank.
Here is a thread I started on routing the lines. http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...-line-Mounting
I believe routing oil lines in cars before 1973 is different, as starting in 1973 there is a recess in the rear wheel well for clearance. Earlier cars like your 1969 used different set ups.

If you install an early oil cooler on your 3.0 engine, and a 30/26 converter on the return line it will all mate up with stock hoses.

I installed SC hard lines to a front cooler in my '71. Since the body does not have recesses for the lines they don't fit properly. I had to lengthen them slightly by splicing in a short piece to make them fit and line up properly. Challenging job made easier by Ed Mayo's tutelage.
