Flasher switch is a little more orange/red and has a flashing light icon on the lens.

Not on some of the euro cars, it doesn't.

The knob looks like a ROW emergency flasher unit. Can't comment on the switch itself. Is the part number still on the switch?

Emergency switches differed through markets and MY.
Does not look like on my swiss market 2.2l. Also its a push and not a pull

ROW emergency flasher/hazard switch either 68 or 69 depending on the terminals on the back, part number would end in 01, or 02 I can't remember which one is applicable to which year.

At least on the very early cars, the fog light switch has only two poles (plus the indicator light). Another photo of that switch (on photobucket) seems to show at least three spade terminals:

I'ts probably not a fog light switch, at least not from a really early car. I hope you'll forgive me for crawling into my car's trunk for a close look.
