    Towing advice

I'm about to tow my 911 cross country on a Uhaul auto hauler trailer behind a 20 ft Uhaul box truck. I've towed boats and cars for years, but never a cross country trip.

Any advice on protecting/covering the car while in transit?

    Thanks

Don't put any kind of a cover on it the constant flapping of the cover material will damage your car. Just give it a real good cleaning and wax job and you will be fine.

I towed my 914-6 on an open trailer to a concour .... I wrapped it tightly in plastic wrap (Like Saran Wrap) BUT I didn't experience any moisture. (That would cloud the paint left sitting in the hot sun)

Maybe at least a hood bra and something to cover the windshield? My concern is dust and such swirling up behind the tow truck.

    And,

make sure it goes on nose first. Wind buffeting at the back side of the car will possibly flip open the rear hood and up against the rear glass, if things become ajar.....

    BUT,
more importantly, air pressure will go into the car thru the rear/exit venting and possibly blow the windshield out. Has happened more than a few times ~

Good thing I didn't read this thread before I towed....

Mike is right. Enclosed trailer or nothing at all. No covers. Towing on the front wheels produces the least wear to the drivetrain. Watch the front skirt scraping the road though.

no cover - good wax job before trip - face forward on trailer - all wheels on the trailer (don't us a dolly) search for pictures on best way to put the strap-downs thru the fuchs - check strap-downs periodically - especially after first few miles at highway speeds as they do losen
