    Perma-tune

Pulled this box off the 911S we are restoring. Wondering if it is worth anything. This engine had been modified for racing in the 1977 sports car series and then detuned to a 2.5 liter for street use. PO said it was running when parked but car in terrible shape when I bought it. Any value to this if it proves to be working?

Looks to be VW distributed since it has the "Autobahn" logo. Has six pins. Any guess would be appreciated. Also where to get tested. Want to sell if has any value but don't want to stick anybody if crap.

AshlockTech.com repairs Permatune and Bosch CDI's, they should be able to tell you what make and models it was used on.

Thanks Lash. I already know it was good for a '67S. Also found a thread here about that. Just don't know if its working. Going to put it up for $50.00 in for sale section with money back and return postage guarantee. That way somebody else can test it. Ashlock wants to repair and I am just not that interested in having a unit repaired for $199.00 if its only worth $100.00. Thanks again. By the way, will you still be using a whip in your next western?

I pulled my Permatune out and had Ashlock source a Bosch CDI and had them refurbish it. They do very nice profesional work. I'm keeping my Permatune just for a backup.
I received a nice letter from Richard Nixon in 1969 and ran downtown to the Air Force recruiter. I ended up working on radar units and the Sargent I worked for kept calling me Lash, did not know why. He told me that he would watch Lash Larue westerns as a kid at the Saturday matinee's. It wasn't until years later I saw a couple episodes on a nostalgia TV channel. He was certainly handy with the whip.

Tom, go to the Permatune website. It explains exactly how to test the unit. I could even do it! I also believe that the site tells you from the serial number when it was built and what it will work on. You can also call them. Good luck. Steve

Now all I need is a second nomination and all future comments I add to this forum will not be questioned, correct?
