Richard, I suggest you start a new thread in the General info area as you’ll get a lot more feedback. This is not the place for the dialog you’re seeking. Best, Doug

    Auction Description:

    - Originally supplied by Malaya Garage, Billinghurst, West Sussex
    - Powered by a 3.0-litre SC engine with triple Webers rebuilt by specialist Bob Watson
    - Previous competition history and RIAC competition log book
    - Superbly presented in Viper Green with the correct 1973 2.7 RS graphics and black interior
    - Complete with Porsche Certificate of Authentication
    - Inspection of this superbly prepared car and its paperwork is highly recommended

Purchased by our client in 2016, this particular RS re-creation had been built some years previously and used extensively for road rallies etc, however, attention was required and so an in-depth rebuild commenced in March 2018. The vehicle was stripped to a bare shell then shot blasted to ensure that there would be no issues remaining once the build was complete. Utilising all new or fully refurbished panels and parts as required, the re-creation was completed to the very highest of standards and fully detailed throughout. Mechanically, the 3.0-litre engine, which had previously been ‘breathed on’ by well known Porsche mechanic Bob Watson of Bob Watson Engineering, received a full check over and was deemed fit for purpose, the gearbox, however, was found to be in need of attention and was completely rebuilt. Externally the Porsche was refinished in the desirable and instantly recognizable shade of Viper Green and fitted with the correct decals for that nod to originality, while internally a full retrim was commissioned. The project was completed in 2019 and has received little use since.

Accompanied by a detailed schedule of the rebuild (£57,611), rebuild photographs, original handbooks, Malaya Garage Maintenance book, Malaya Garage invoices, and its RIAC Competition Log Book, this RS re-creation comes to market freshly serviced and with a recently issued MOT Certificate ( no advisories) that expires 07/7/2021

This fabulous 911 is based on an original 1973 right-hand drive 2.4E, a valuable car in its own right, and with ‘original’ 2.7 RS Porsches now effectively unobtainable, this superb and highly desirable recreation is offered at a fraction of the cost of the real deal but will provide as much, if not more, enjoyment for its next custodian.

You can now book a one to one appointment (up to one hour) to view this lot at our central location between 16th and 30th July. Please contact us on 01926 691 141 to secure your appointment or charles@silverstoneauctions.com to discuss the car in more detail. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions for arrival and inspection protocols will be given when making your appointment.

    BaT Auction:

This 1971 Porsche 911E was acquired by the current owner in 2018 and subsequently modified in the style of a Carrera RS. The color scheme was designed by Sara Wilson, former Head of Fine Materials at Singer, and the car is now finished in Rubystone Red, and the interior features sport seats and Oxford Blue leather complemented by blue and purple tartan accents. A five-speed Type 901 manual transaxle is mated to a fuel-injected 2.7L flat-six equipped with 911S camshafts, 930 chain tensioners, a reflowed MFI pump and injectors, and a ceramic-coated exhaust system. Other additions include staggered-width Fuchs wheels, Koni dampers, upgraded torsion and sway bars, a vintage-look stereo, Rennline pedals and toe boards, and more detailed in the listing. This 911E is now offered on behalf of the current owner in California with a clean Montana title.

Previously silver, the car has been repainted in two-stage Rubystone Red (82N) with steel RS-style rear flares, fiberglass bumpers, and a fiberglass ducktail spoiler. The seller reports that the front inner fenders, battery boxes, and front slam panel were replaced due to wrinkles in the slam panel and apparent bodywork on the inner fenders, and the car has been fitted with new a windshield and body weatherstripping. A touched-up chip measuring approximately 1/16″ is noted on the passenger fender.

Other modifications include metallic silver rear bumperettes, silver Porsche graphics, H1 headlights, and a single door mirror mounted through the window trim. Refurbished 15″ Fuchs wheels measure 7″ wide up front and 8″ out back, and the car recently received a four-wheel alignment and new Pirelli CN36 tires. A set of 911S front brakes and stainless steel brake hoses are fitted, and the suspension features adjustable Koni dampers, aftermarket sway bars, thicker torsion bars, and Sway-A-Way spring plates.

The seller states that four hides, or approximately 250 square feet, of Oxford Blue leather was used to reupholster the cabin. The material now covers the floors, sills, console, kick panels, map pockets, interior side panels, shift boot, emergency brake boot, and seat adjuster bars. Blue and purple tartan velour covers the sport seat center sections, the rear seats, the door panel inserts, and dash fasica, while the pillars and headliner are trimmed in blue Alcantara and the upper doors and dash are upholstered in contrasting black leather.

The Wilton wool floor mats are the sole pieces of carpet in the interior, and the driver’s heel pad is quilted Oxford Blue leather. A matching piece of Oxford Blue and tartan luggage is included and is secured with leather straps. A vintage-look radio is installed in the factory location and a pair of speakers have been added to the rear side panels. The interior is also equipped with Rennline pedals and toe boards, a custom 917-style wooden shift knob with Rubystone and navy blue stripes, a billet center mirror, and billet lock pulls. A leather-rimmed MOMO Prototipo wheel frames a suite of instrumentation centered around a tachometer with a Rubystone face. Just over 87k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, a few thousand of which were added by the current owner.

The fuel-injected 2.7L flat-six is based around a 1973 T/V (*653XXXX*) case and was installed using a stainless steel engine mount bar and Wevo engine mounts. The seller reports that the MFI pump and injectors have been rebuilt and reflowed. The engine is equipped 911S camshafts, 930 chain tensioners and locks, 911 Turbo cam covers, Pertronix electronic ignition, a Supertec enrichment cable, an amber fiberglass fan shroud, and a laser-etched lightweight crank pulley. Underhood hardware has been cadmium-plated, and the cooling fan was refurbished.

The engine sound pad and trunk liner are matching quilted Oxford Blue leather, and the underhood and trunk metal surfaces feature Gravitex chipcoat under the Rubystone paintwork. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed Type 901 manual transaxle and new halfshafts. The brake disc dust shields and other underbody hardware have been cadmium-plated, and the Bursch headers and MFI muffler are finished in a high-temperature ceramic coating. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery and show the floors, suspension components, and more.
