    911R quarter windows attached how?

How were the original 911R quarter windows attached? I'd like to install a set but want it to look tidy...

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Break out the clear silicone/glue gun! Tidy probably isn't the word I would use

I was thinking the same thing...911Rs never struck me as 'tidy'.

That said...were they put in with RTV?

The original 911R quarter windows along with the rear window were attached with " sealing cord " thats what it's called in the R parts book, made by Bostik-Solbit. The Porsche part number for the cord is 999.915.080.00 and it was sold by the meter. The quarter windows used 1.7m each, and the rear window used 3.4m. The note in the parts book says it has a shelf life of 6 weeks... On a visit to Canepa's shop, see how they do it...

On my R continuation / tribute we used black silicone on the rear quarter
windows and the standard rear window rubber seal for the plastic rear window.

They have been on since 2006 with no issues.
I believe the black silicone is stronger that the clear and doesn't break up
    or peel easily. (IMO)

I had hoped to use a flexible 3M body caulk that I'd found but in the end found it too tacky and we couldn't get a good finish, certainly not one that would have lasted....

.....in the end we used regular silicon sealant which we then sanded back to take away the shine. We also painted the inner edge of the perspex quarter black so that you couldn't see any gaps or variations from inside the car when looking out. I think this turned out ok.....

    Cheers,

That looks great Darren. I was thinking of using a black caulk that's used on wood boats. It dries and you can sand it...shape it a bit to make it look nice.
