    Front grills

    Hi,

I have a quick question regarding the front grills on a 69-72 cars, chrome ones. I had a plater tell me today that Porsche use to paint the bottom side of the louvers. I asked about the bottom of the louvers as on these newly plated ones, they were still quite pitted under there. He is trying to tell me that Porsche did this so no reflection from the louver above did not reflect on the next one down. I think that he is slightly full of it and this is his way of defending poor quality work on the underside BTW he was charging $200.00 to do each grill, now that is in Canadian funds which I guess makes it about 30 bucks US ( just kidding )

I would like to find out the correct fatory finish for these.

    Thanks, Rick

Your suspicions are correct. He's full of it. I have an NOS set and the plating is excellent top/bottom of the fins.
