Thread: Just Acquired a second air cooled classic

Just Acquired a second air cooled classic

    1967 VW Bug from SOCAL.

Cherished by its second owner for 45 years! (1969-2014).

Very nice original example with the exception of the rebuilt longblock from Vege Motoren in Holland that was installed in 1984 @ 100,226 miles; and one repaint in 1990 @ 125,778 miles (door jams, front compartment, and interior are still
    OG paint).

OG carpets are frayed, window scrapers are toast, and OG headliner has deteriorated under the rear glass. Lenny Copp will refresh the interior before its cross country journey to FL.

Nice! Tons of one year only parts on the 67. I even restored the weird seat belt tentacles. I ended up selling my 67 cuz I could not find a decent fuel sender that didnt leak and make it stink like gas.

Those "lobster claw" seat belts are crazy, right? Thanks for the tip on the fuel sender...the romance of vintage cars...gotta love it!

    Thumbs up

    Outstanding Frank!!!!!!!!!! BIG CONGRATS !!!!!!!!!!

A Savannah Beige one owner '67 Type 1........ WOW!!!!!

In my estimation you bought the 'best of the best' stock bugs....

I had my one owner, Bob Smith VW sold, Lotus White '67 for 18 1/2 years.... from '74 to '92

My CA black plate was TYM 852 ... Looks like your was issued a bit after mine.......

Mine ended up the little different then it started........

Cool Chuck! Judging by the louvred engine lid I'd bet you had something a little hotter than the original 1500 cc SP in there?
    Cheers!

By the end it had an ARAO Engineering 1776cc /Engle 120 w/dual 40's dynoed at 107 at the flywheel.... the car was dead reliable and set up for the hills.

Before my 911 it took me on my Thanksgivings from L.A. to Chico and back for years...... A GREAT old car

You have a enviably sought-after car my friend........

Damn Chuck, that motor setup must have been sweet! Did you need anything other than the lid louvers to keep the temp under control?

Looking forward to Heidi's arrival here in FL. Before making the cross country trip, she's going over to Lenny @ West Coast Classic VW In Fullerton for a new headliner, carpets, and seat padding and covers all from Wolfsburg West.

Nice score! I spotted that one on CL and would have been all over it if I had any more storage. Looks like it's going to a good home. I had a 67 when I was at university(along with my Road Runner!) and it was a neat car. Enjoy!
    67 911 , 69 911S, Ford V Ferrari 906LH, 85 Carrera...and-gasp! a bunch of Corvettes, Musclecars and Italian crap(330GTC,GTA/M,308GTB)

Later 'doghouse' engine cooler, Rapid Cool additional cooler mounted above the trans, deep sump, and a large Fram HP1 filter... My oil capacity went from 2 1/2 qts. to over 6.... The car NEVER got hot....
