    Anyone running 205/50-15 or 205/55-15s?

If you are running 205/50 or 205/55-15s, could you post photos of your car? Trying to figure out tires for my 7x15 Fuchs. Thanks.

    205's

Here is Orangello with 205/50's Bridgestone RE-71R. Speedometer is off by about 10 mph. Grip is incredible.

Another option is 225/50-15 on sevens. I have that in the back, and 205/50-15 in front on sixes. That's what was on the car when I bought it 32 years ago and I've kept it that way. Curious to hear if that's consider too much rubber. I know that's a standard combination on sevens and eights.

Looks like rear flares on your 911. Unless the car is sitting unusually high in the rear, a stock fender 911 (69-77) will not accept a 225/50 on a standard 7" Fuch (That size will work with 7R's). Ask me how I know.

FWIW, 205/50-15 may have a rubbing issue in the rear unless you're running 7R offset wheels or wider flares.

My car is setup reasonably stiff and I had rubbing up high in the rear fender under load in corners with standard 7"s and 205/50.

In response to post 6, yes, flared. Not a great photo; the area between the fenders and tires is pretty shadowed so the transition there is tough to see. The car is at "Euro" ride height so there is not much of a gap there. I even have a spacer to push the rear wheels out, so the tires line up to the fender similar to an 8 in. wheel.

I was including more to show that 225/50-15 fits on a seven. However, as Kent points out even the 205/50-15 may cause rubbing if the car is not flared, and the 225/50-15 would likely be worse.

As you know, if the rub is bad enough, up pops a blister in the paint.

I switched out to Avon 185/70s on the 7"s. No risk of rubbing, nice vintage tread and sidewall profile.. and they're stickier than any typical 205 street tire.
They're also a heck of a lot cheaper than repainting a scorched fender ;-)
