1972 914 Chassis# 4712902406 & Motor #6210800 from a 1971 911E. This notable race car owned and raced by Rod Schapel belongs to a friend of mine. Do a Google search of Rod Schapel and you will see all kinds of links to his work with aerodynamics on planes and cars. See his flying wing design, remind you of something? Type in “Rod Schapel fiberglass” in any search engine on the web. We are currently trying to assess the market for one of these built 914-6 Conversions that had a proven race history built by a famous Aerodynamicist. It was purpose built to be a race car (see build sheet on Shutterfly link). Over $22,000.00 was put into the motor alone (pictured on Shutterfly link as well). This 914-6 has a long proven track history with binder after binder documenting race history with pictures (also posted on Shutterfly link, binders you will have to see in person). If anyone has any personal stories about the car or has raced against the car in the past we would love to hear them and include in its history. Rod is no longer with us and we would like for this car to eventually end up with someone that knew him or at least knew of him and has the same passion for racing he did. It would be great for someone to bring this car to its former glory, it would not take much. For those of you that race with POC or vintage race against this class; please let me know the interest level in a car like this and if you know anyone that might be interested in it. Right now it is NOT for sale; however we will entertain talking to the right person when the time comes. If and when it officially goes up for sale; Early 911S Registry or POC racers will have first crack at the car. It will be sold with a Bill of Sale only. The molds to the cars panels are not in our possession now but we think they will be available to the new owner. That is something we are working on right now. We have been told it could be brought back to street use but that would be the responsibility of the new owner with no implied guarantees or warranties whatsoever. Thank you for any input in the matter.
