    (This shifter is not from a '72). It is an early car version. The slit in the middle forward section of the base is for heater control knob

    Since they all are so similar looking I did some due diligence and heard from 3 dedicated porsche parts shops and the consensus was 72.

    In case it helps that is 100% a 72 only shifter.

    The outter case is the same as that used upto 67 and had the integrated heater control.
