    Early front bumper back side

    Hi

Do anybody know if the front bumper horn back side (close to the luggage hood) has full chrome or has a hole on the back side on the 1965 cars ?

i hope that i am being a good member in offering this response, but i do not claim any expert knowledge.

i believe that the very early, complete-chrome bumper horns came BOTH with and without the slots that you note. other members have told me that there were two different manufacturers. some have indicated that the very earliest cars did NOT have the slots, and the slots were added as the models evolved. this question seems to be ongoing, but i have heard of no "final" determination.

as you already know, the very early 911 had front bumper horns with NO rubber. as such, there would have been holes for the studs which hold the rubber on place.

i hope this helps. if nothing else, the question gets bumped.

I can't really be authoritative because my 1965 Porsche 911 had some body parts replaced before I got it, but it has one bumperette with a slot and one without. I've heard mine is not the only such car.

As far as I know the whole thing is chrome plated.

My take is that the cars before 700 had this, best guess as I have few datapoints only and indeed could have been replaced.
