Hi,
I did search for a picture of an original knob to open the engine cover on a 65'er but came up empty handed. Anyone who can post a clear picture? Friend is looking for a correct knob, not the T handle.
Best regards,
Cees

'65 decklid pull
Great, thanks! Is the pull a 356 item or 901/911 unique?

Just found a picture of a very original car in the Classic Porsche magazine, VIN number 302180 and you just can see the door post with a T handle! I reckon there will be a transition between round know and T handle but where exactly? MY65 vs 66?
Kind regards,
Cees
Cees,
It also shows an alu / wood wheel. I have seen that before in cars this late (302039* for instance). I am firm to believe that these wheels (since there are so many out there) where - either standard or optional, a kardex would tell - used for probably the first 2200? cars.
* 302039 is also known as the #107 Duel car (from the Spa clip) and the first owner was David Cassidy, who was just earlier in the news today again for DUI.

Here's a photo of 301382. It has the knob,
I checked my parts catalog: it shows only the T-handle for the engine lid release 901.552.813.20 HANDLE but the round knob on the early cars may well be the same as the front lid pull: 901.552.811.20 KNOB.
I checked Stoddards and they only have the T-handle which they list for both front and rear lid pulls. But, that strongly implies that the front lid pull will work on the rear. You might be able to get a front lid pull knob from a used Porsche parts dealer like EASY.
By the way, 301382 has a steel spoke wood steering wheel, but there's some chance it's not original to the car.

Thanks Jim and Richard, good info. Just saw today an unrestored beige 65, do not know the VIN but here a close up of the knob.
Kind regards,
Cees
The knob in the beige car looks like a 356 knob.

For reference, there is an open thread trying to determine the cutoff of the knob versus t-handle. 301976 has the round knob.
