Post 1969 speedo in 1969 car

I have a 1969 911T with broken speedo/odometer and while getting it fixed would like to keep driving the car.

Friend can lend a later speedo from couple of years newer car, will that mount bolt-on to the 1969 dash?

I know of the differences how the gauges are mounted but cannot find anything about the interchangeability from the books I have nor via google..

    regards, Tero

The speedos are the same size but the '69 version has threaded studs & a brkt on the back to clamp it to the dash whereas the later ('71-on) gauges use a ribbed rubber seal to hold them in the dash.

The holes in the dash of the later cars are larger in diameter to allow for the ribbed rubber seals so you'd need to find a way of keeping the later speedo in your dash as there will be no room for the ribbed rubber seal.

Maybe a large jubilee (hose) clip around the casing from behind the dash ?

Thanks Andy, the hose clip etc sounds like good workaround for installation for the few remaining weeks of our driving season.
