FS: Original paint, original interior, matching numbers 1965 911

    1965 Porsche 911
    s/n 303093, engine no. 903173, transmission no. 225422
Polo Red with Black Leatherette Interior

    • Matching numbers engine and transmission per included CoA
    • Original paint with original floors and undercarriage. A truly outstanding car from a structural standpoint, super straight body with fantastic gaps and fit. A pleasant, honest cosmetic patina throughout with some crazing and chips to the paint.
    • Interior is also original and is equally well-preserved: great wood to the dash and steering wheel, Blaupunkt radio, original upholstery, carpets, and dash as far as I can tell.
    • Still has the Solex carburetors, which were recently serviced and the car runs quite well, contrary to the reputation these carbs have. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. It does have a non-original ignition system as well as SSI heat exchangers. You can also see someone put Cibie fogs and a non-original side mirror. I've ordered a Durant mirror for the car.

This is one of those truly exceptional original cars. It's hard to explain the feeling when you're in the presence of this car, but it's very special. I took the car over to Easy Porsche and it drew everyone out of the building and they were quite impressed with its originality, including Jim. I highly recommend seeing and driving this car in person because it's difficult to describe its presence and it's exactly the way you would want a highly original car to be.

Ugh don't get me started. When it came to me, it was supposed to have tools but they couldn't find them, so they just bought a repro set from Sierra Madre and sent it to me.

Interested to know if the chrome bezels on the three dash switches are original... Dr. Johnson (p.50) says that they should be black plastic and were changed in 1967... I was having a conversation with someone last week who said they should be chrome for a '66 car... hoping the bezel experts will chime in...

    Paint gauge readings

Here apparently are the paint gauge readings for the car; we have this car in our DB from about a year ago and this was on the website advertising this car in Sept. 2014. Thanks.

Ok, but why show a picture of the repro tool kit, it sends the wrong message.
