Thread: FS: @eBay - 1970 911S Coupe

Oh man....this car, or should I say the two guys who misrepresented and sold this to me continue to haunt me. I accepted my responsibility in missing the re-stamped engine number, but they have never acknowledged that the VERY definitive language they used to describe the car proved to be patently untrue. Glad to see that the current owner is NOT using 'matching numbers' terminology. I had bought and restored the car exclusively because of my belief that it was indeed the car these guys assured me it was....when I learned otherwise I just wanted it out of my garage. If one does not care about the engine re-stamp, it is an exceptional car....I put my heart, soul and wallet into its restoration.

Seller seems to be in denial about the "re-stamp"

Wow. Beautiful restoration no doubt but I it was priced way way higher when I was looking. GLWS.

People that re-stamp cases to match the original engine # are ALWAYS in denial about, and actually BELIEVE their OWN BS...they really do. I've had lengthy discussions about it, with members who should and really do know better....but persist in believing their own BS

What did MT say?..."Denial ain't just a river in Egypt"....(full disclosure: I admit I've been waiting a while to use that one!)...

P.S...looks like a nice car though...

It's a slippery slope: If re-stamping an engine case does not mean the car is not matching numbers, then re-VIN-ing a car's body from a 1973 911T to a 911RS should not be a problem either.

I've seen the stamping (see photo below). I also ran it by a someone whose credentials are irrefutable when it comes to authenticity.

The fact that there are NO STARS on either end was good enough for me but the boss is also smooth.

Does not look like ANY of my cars stamping and NONE of mine are "re-stamped"
