    Wheel Center Cap Separated

Has anybody repaired these? One of mine split into a surface piece and the underlying attachment piece - 3 prongs separated - maybe they are rivets that were soldered on to the surface (cosmetic) piece.

They are mechanically staked in place. The circular piece has standing bosses, the prong parts have holes. Once engaged the bosses are deformed to hold the prongs in place. You may be able to restake them. I would back that up with some JB Weld.

They have been falling apart since they were new...
The 3 prong caps are still available new...although the finish is different.
I have never found a permanent repair for a broken prong.

If the aluminum "rivet" is still there, you may be able to re-rivet it....

Thanks much. I may try to some sort of adhesive, but I need one that is strong, will flex and will stick to Al-oxide.

BTW, does this mean I'm an Outlaw?

That is not a 3 prong cap.
That is a ring type cap 74>
Clean them both and put a good epoxy on.
(line up the old rivet holes)
It will work for a while.
    They are also still available.

Thx - I shouldn't have used the r term prong to refer to the -ah- vertical members. i compounded the mistaken associations by using a "3" right in front of the term prongs. I have one "3 prong wheel center" on the front and the rest are the later type, which use rings.

    I'll epoxy it this winter.
