1970 air box - correct paint finish?

I did a search on this topic and only came up with a dated one from 2005 and the question pertained to an earlier car. Sorry if I missed later postings, but would appreciate a definitive as possible answer on whether the metal airbox was gloss or satin black. Thank you.

I can tell you after stripping and painting mine about 5 times! I found that the spray can product SEM Trim Black number 39143 was the best product. It wasn't so much about the color, but the quality. I tried every damn paint product on the market and they all sucked from an application stand point. I tried the SEM and it was very very good. Powder coating is nice, but loses the look of the factory "dipped" in paint look. If you try the SEM, don't be worried as you first apply it, as it looks pretty spattered, but in a matter of a few seconds it settles down to a nice smooth finish. The sheen is a very close match to the Semi look which Ed refers to. Good luck on your project..Steve

Thank you for the follow on posting...I have used (and may still have) the SEM product you mentioned.
