'. . . The nicely restored 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS was completed in December 1972 and finished in Grand Prix White with red graphics. It was optioned with the M472 “Touring Package,” electric window lifts, retractable seat belts left and right, a retractable antenna with loudspeaker and special order racing seats that are documented in Dr. Konradsheim’s book as “like M471.”
Once completed it was delivered locally by a German dealer to an unknown European client. A few years later, in May 1977, it was sold to a resident of Kyoto, Japan who kept the car for the next 32 years. During his ownership, the original engine was replaced with a 3.0 SC unit that was easier to tune. After it was sold by this longterm owner in 2009, this RS was treated to a full nut and bolt restoration that included the sourcing of a correct, NOS 911/83 engine case and “019” Bosch MFI pump from Germany.
In 2014 this RS was imported to America and sold to European Collectibles. During the past year we have systematically gone through it from front to back making it correct throughout and ensuring it will perform as this very special model was originally intended. The lightweight door panels and carpets that were installed during the last restoration have been exchanged for correct arm rests, door pockets and standard carpets. The original racing style seats were rebuilt internally and recovered by Autos International. The front and rear bumpers, which had only a red stripe, now have the proper Touring style trim. The rocker panels do too. The engine, which was running poorly, was removed, torn down and rebuilt from the crankshaft up with all of the best parts money can buy. The engine rebuild alone was in excess of $30,000 and included the rebuilding and calibration of the very rare and correct RS MFI pump. Although the original engine is no longer in the car, the rest of the hard to find bits remain present, like the 250 KMH speedometer (the 300 KMH speedo became standard later), the aluminum framed RS ducktail spoiler, tool kit, jack, air compressor and collapsible spare tire . . .'
