Thread: brackets welded to the floor pan

brackets welded to the floor pan

I did some work concerning the parking brake. During that work I found those 3 brackets welded to the floor pan:

Each bracket has a screw thread of a size between the european 5mm and 6mm threads.

I haven’t the slightest idea what they were used for. Can someone please help and answer this question?

Based on the area around the shifter I would guess a modification by the previous owner, but I could be wrong

new replacement floors will have brackets in place for computer mounting,,,,possibility if pan has been replaced.

Wrong side. DME computer is under the drivers seat on 3.2 Carreras.

I looked in more detail, removed parts of the untercoating an recognized that the brackets are welded with 4 points to the floor pan and that there a are 2 additional metal strips also welded to the floor pan. The whole thing looks very factory installed (definitely this was not a quick and dirty solution) and perhaps anybody has seens such a thing before and can tell me more about it. Those brackets and metal strips are only on the passenger's side and nothing special mentioned in the Kardex of this car.

Mike is correct in that the DME is on the driver side, but I seem to remember that there were provisions for some other computer on the passenger side,,,,maybe frequency valve ?

I believe some careful forensics will reveal that side of the pan has been replaced or patched at some time with a piece from an SC.

The round impressions in the pan look like 68's, with no tabs (push outs drains in the rounds). Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't look like a replacement floor. G.Led
